No matter what time of year it is, it’s always a good time for scenic road trips in Georgia. We put together this road trip that we think is one of our best yet! It takes you through 10 different charming small towns in Georgia that offer anything from natural beauty to history, quaint downtown areas, and so much more. Without further adieu, we introduce to you to…(trumpets sound)…Georgia’s Small Town Road Trip!
Now, unfortunately, we can’t add all the charming small towns in Georgia to this beautiful trip because then you’d probably be driving around the state for the rest of the year. Instead, we’ve pulled a few of our favorites, as well as some towns which really offer that charm and pizzazz most people crave, and added them into one spectacular trip. The whole trip takes around nine hours of driving time, which, with all the small-town stops along the way, makes this an excellent choice for a long weekend jaunt. You’ll cover more than 400 miles, plus a ton of mesmerizing scenery along the way.

The trip starts with the beautiful town of Forsyth, Georgia, which was incorporated in 1823. Make sure you stop in the Forsyth Commercial Historic District for some incredible architecture and little slices of history to be learned along the way. Also, Courthouse Square is always a great time.
The small, serene town of Senoia, Georgia is up next on the road trip. Here you'll be able to walk through the charming streets of its downtown while popping in and out of the small shops and antique stores. The historic buildings are worthy of admiration, along with much of the garden and foliage you'll see along the way.
Next stop, Newnan, Georgia! As one of the most charming small towns in Georgia, this quaint town filled with friendly residents and tons to do. You can spend the day wandering through the magical Dunaway Gardens or shop in Ashley Park outdoor mall. Settled in 1828, Newnan has kept Coweta County rich with history and small-town pride.
If you've never been to Ellijay, Georgia, then this road trip stop may end up being your favorite. Not only is it an outdoor lover's paradise, but it's also filled with magical Southern charm which truly is what Georgia is all about. Nestled at the bottom of the Appalachian mountains, you'll have views for days driving through Ellijay.
Speaking of sensational views, this next stop on the small towns trip has quite a few. Blue Ridge, Georgia, is an incredible place to visit no matter the season. The small town oozes artistic creativity, colorful history, and some incredible dining opportunities. We can't guarantee that you won't fall in love with this magical mountain town. It's one of the most beautiful places in Georgia!
The allure of this next small town rests largely in the residents and how much they enjoy their home town. It's no wonder, consider the romantic wine vineyards, the delectable dining options, and the historic charm of a town that's been incorporated since 1821.
There is so much more to Helen, Georgia than what meets the eye. It's not simply a delightful replica Bavarian village as there are also a ton of outdoorsy things to brave, vineyards to explore, and culture to be immersed in. When we talk about picturesque small towns, Madison, Georgia always comes to mind. It's deserving to say the least, especially with all the luminous Antebellum architecture around every corner. Enjoy the renowned restaurants, unique boutiques, and dazzling attractions of one of the most charming small towns in Georgia.
Incorporated in 1808, Monticello has always remained a small town with big excitement. Being the hometown to country crooner Trisha Yearwood isn't the only highlight of this quaint place. There is history and character coming out off every street corner.
