Have you ever just felt like going for a drive, with no destination in mind, just to cruise the open roads and take in a little bit of the scenery? If so, then Russell-Brasstown Scenic Byway is one of the perfect roads for you to put the pedal to the metal and just go. Located within the Chattahoochee National Forest, the Russell-Brasstown Scenic Byway is more than 40 miles of pure Georgia beauty, featuring some of the best views in the entire state. What’s even better is that the entire byway is one continuous loop, so no matter how long you want to drive, you’ll never get too far from home.

There are quite a few entry points to this beautiful scenic byway, so whichever direction you’re coming from is where you’ll begin on the loop. But no matter where you enter, the views will be just as magical. A few things to keep an eye out for when you’re traveling on the byway include the highest point in Georgia, Brasstown Bald, plus a few other notable spots such as Anna Ruby Falls, Andrew’s Cove, Unicoi State Park and Jacks Gap. You also have the nearby Alpine village Helen, Georgia, too.

The entire Russell-Brasstown Scenic Byway was originally composed of different slices of roadway and routes, which where eventually connected over time. For example, the section of SR 75 which is part of the byway was created between May and August 1932 along the same alignment as it travels to this day. So not only are you capturing the incredible scenic views Georgia is famous for, you also are driving along a little part of history.
