I know we all have family members or friends that don’t live here in Georgia, and I know that as soon as they see you, the questions come pouring out! Yes, it’s true that people are fascinated by the culture that we have here in Georgia, but it sure does become tiring having to answer the same questions over and over again. Here are 10 things people always ask when they know you’re from Georgia:
Georgia's landscape varies so much, it's very hard to stereotype all of Georgia as country land. It's possible that you may live in the country, but it's also true that you just may live next to a majestic house like this.
Believe it or not, people from Georgia don't go around eating tons of peaches. Yes, they do taste better here than anywhere else, but we eat them just as often as anyone else.
I hate to say it, but people always ask about Atlanta when they find out you're from Georgia. With the movie scene being hot in Atlanta right now, (plus all the big universities in the city, ) Atlanta has the illusion of being a "happening" place to be.
Contrary to popular belief, not everyone from Georgia speaks with a southern drawl. People from all over settle in Georgia, and we're actually a really diverse group of people.
Grits are definitely a staple in a Georgia household, and we love to pair it with seafood (and sometimes barbecued pork!) Outsiders might think it's disgusting, but it's actually one our favorite dishes.
Those not from Georgia may have not heard of our famous brunswick stew. What do we put in it to make it so delicious? It's a Georgia secret...
10. Aren't there a bunch of hillbillies there?
No! Not at all. Georgia is full of some of the world's best colleges and universities. Not to mention, Georgia's population is super diverse.
More questions I always get are; Why do you like Chick-Fil-A, Coca Cola and the Falcons so much? We don’t know why we are the way that we are, but we love it! What are some other questions that you get asked when people find out that you’re from Georgia? Tell us in the comments below!
