There's A Park Hiding On The Very Edge Of Georgia And It's Such A Peaceful Escape
Here at Only In Georgia, we love featuring popular spots: after all, they’re popular for a reason! We’ve got so many incredible state parks in Georgia that attract thousands of visitors a year, and they are each special and worthy of a visit. However, there are also loads of hidden gems in the Peach State, places that might not be at the top of most travel lists, but are just as deserving of attention. These spots have the added benefit of typically being pretty quiet, making them a wonderful option for escaping the noise and chaos that everyday life can throw at you. One of our favorite secluded spots in nature is tucked away in Decatur County, not far from the border with Florida. It’s there that you’ll find Silver Lake Wildlife Management Area. This is a hunting preserve that also offers other activities.
Note that a Lands Pass, Hunting License, or Fishing License is required to access Silver Lake WMA in Decatur County, GA. You can obtain annual passes or daily passes from the Georgia DNR website.
For more information about Silver Lake WMA, check out the Georgia DNR website or the Silver Lake Wildlife Management Area Facebook page.
