Though Quitman is the county seat of Brooks County, it’s a relatively tiny city, with a total square area of about four miles and a population of just over 4,000. It’s located right along the border with Florida, in an area of the state that’s pretty rural. You’ll find a lot of charming little towns and farmland in this part of the Peach State, but it’s not typically thought of as having a lot going on. There’s actually a surprising amount to do down in Georgia’s lowest portions, and Quitman is a wonderful town to check out. One attraction here is a delightfully delicious small town staple that’s full of great food and Southern charm: the Royal Cafe of Quitman.
The very southernmost parts of Georgia tend to get neglected for destinations farther north, but there are some charming small towns and beautiful landscapes in this area. One such town is Quitman, which is home to a historic district and many camellia trees.
Right in Quitman's bustling downtown area, you'll find Royal Cafe, a delicious spot that serves up good old-fashioned Southern food with a side of hospitality.
Royal Cafe has a delicious buffet that has different items available depending on the daily specials.
The lunch choices are wonderful, too. While the menu differs each day, you can expect traditional Southern goodness like vegetables, cornbread, fried fish,, and meatloaf.
This tasty and timeless spot may not be on most travelers' radars simply due to its out-of-the-way location, but it's got some of the best food in Georgia and is definitely worth a visit!
