It’s pretty amazing what Georgia looked like 50 years ago. Can you imagine what it was like 100 years ago? The architecture was completely different, and there were no major highways and cars that we have today. Most importantly, people were so different! They dressed differently, they spoke differently and they had different customs and beliefs. Here’s a glimpse into the past of Georgia 100 years ago:

1. Ehrlich Drug Company, Bainbridge, Decatur County, 1905.

Here's the local drug store in Bainbridge more than 100 years ago! Back then, this store probably sold cough syrup, candy, and newspapers to everyone in town!
2. Depot, Suwanee, Gwinnett County, ca. 1910-1920

The Depot back then was either a small general store or a train depot, where trains unloaded. Check out the unique-looking hats on the gentlemen in front!
3. The Depot, Griffin, Spalding County, 1911

Here's another depot in Griffin. It looks quite different from any other building I've seen today.
4. Dahlonega, Lumpkin County, ca. 1900-1939

Dahlonega was not the bustling city that it is today. Back in the early 1900s, this place was nothing more than a few homes and dirt roads.

What's most interesting about this photo is the dress of this young couple!
6. Volunteers Armory, Macon, Bibb County, ca. 1890-1900

Check out the cool architecture of this Volunteers Armory. A volunteer armory is a type of modern day national guard/place for reservists. This proud unit was founded in 1825 and fought in every war up until World War II. They were later absorbed into the National Guard.

10. Camden Hotel and Cafe, Kingsland, 1935

These last few pictures are from the late 30s and 40s, but they are still great pictures that depict a completely different era in Georgia. Is this old-time hotel still around? If you know, tell us in the comments!

Another great shot of a vintage hotel in the mid-40s. Check out the architecture, the striped awnings, and old Ford cars that are all representative of that era.
