Well, the cat’s out of the bag, so they say. The truth was bound to come out sooner or later. Honestly, we didn’t expect it to take this long for people to realize that Georgia is one of the worst states to visit during the wintertime. Sure, there may be the most beautiful Christmas towns you’ve ever seen, not to mention tons of outdoor winter activities, but really, who in their right mind would want to come here during wintertime?!
Note: It should go without saying that this piece is intended to be tongue-in-cheek and lighthearted. Please read through with an open mind and hopefully, you’ll get a good laugh or two out of it.
1. Way too many places allow you to cozy up with a warm beverage.
There are so many places throughout the state that urge residents and visitors alike to cozy up with a warm beverage. Whether it’s hot chocolate from Cafe Intermezzo or various teas at Gryphon Tea Room, you’ll be way too overwhelmed with delicious options.
2. The towns are just too into the holiday season.
Way too many beautiful decorations, way too much holiday cheer, way too much spirit. We get it, Dahlonega, you’re the prettiest city in the entire country during the holidays. Cue eye roll.

3. Why would we want to snow tube down a gargantuan hill?!
You know what, Margaritaville at Lanier Islands, we get it. You bring out the inner child in us all. You offer up a snow experience like no other and it really makes the season special. WE GET IT.
Yes, we see you, Georgia. Your natural beauty abounding and your majestic waterfalls becoming even more majestic during the wintertime. Talk about a brag…
You think people in Georgia are friendly during any other regular day of the year, try spending time with them around the holidays! It seems like everyone is just in a good mood all the time and the southern hospitality is cranked up to a ten. UGH.
6. The views after it snows are pretty hideous if you ask us.
Snow blanketing the scenery. Icicles glistening from the sunshine. The sound of nothing but nature. Who in their right mind would want to be around any of this?!
7. Way too many resorts and cabins offering up cozy accommodations.
Renting cabins with mountain views and hot tubs or cozying up to a fireplace inside of a resort sounds pretty boring. Ultimate snooze fest.
So, should we keep this list going? Do you have any more reasons why Georgia is the worst place to visit during winter? Share with us your thoughts in the comments section!
