Everyone loves a good hidden gem attraction, right? Especially during those summer months where you’re looking to fill some time with the kids and need a new spot to visit. While everyone already knows how absolutely incredible the Georgia Aquarium is, we have another aquarium worth mentioning in Albany, Georgia. Except this one is a little different…
The Flint RiverQuarium is a spectacular place in Georgia that allows guests of all ages to come and learn about the hydrologic, ecologic, climatic, and geologic conditions of the Flint River Basin.
After the floodwaters receded, the community of Albany decided to open the Flint RiverQuarium in order to help preserve, research, and help the city together.
Since being open, Flint RiverQuarium has brought together many families to enjoy a 54,000-square-foot aquarium featuring a wide assortment of fish, marine wildlife, and mammals.
Perhaps the highlight of Flint RiverQuarium is the Blue Hole Spring — A 175,000-gallon, 22-foot deep underwater world, showcasing different viewpoints of more than 120 types of fish, a variety of turtles, alligators, and more.
With such a wide variety of species within the Flint River — from the headwaters near Hartsfield International Airport in Atlanta, all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico, you’ll get a glimpse into what is living deep within those waters.
The address for Flint RiverQuarium is 117 Pine Ave., Albany, GA 31701. The hours for the RiverQuarium are from Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. To find out more information about admission ticket prices, visit the website or Facebook page.
