However, don’t you sometimes just want to get away to somewhere peaceful? If you find yourself looking for a peaceful town in Georgia, it doesn’t get much more tranquil than Winterville. This little suburb of Athens is the perfect blend of a quiet country feel while still being close enough to a city that you can find more than enough fun attractions. When I travel to a new place, I love checking out the local small towns: they give you such a wonderful feel for the area’s culture and people. Whether you’re looking to relocate or just visit for an afternoon, there are lots of things to do in Winterville, GA that make it a great place for a getaway.

Winterville is a quick 20-minute drive outside of Athens. The city's population is around 1,100, large enough to have events and attractions, but not so big that it feels overwhelming.

There's a great sense of community within this city that makes it feel much smaller that it actually is. There's even a Winterville Community Garden that grows produce to donate to local food banks.

The little city is also home to the annual Winterville Marigold Festival, held each year in May. The family-friendly event is filled with music, vendors, and fun.
