We talk a lot about natural wonders in Georgia, and, of course, there are plenty of those (and they’re more than worth a visit!), but we have our fair share of man-made wonders, too. There’s something fascinating about a covered bridge that stirs up a sense of nostalgia and a yearning for days of yore. At one time, we had more than 250 covered bridges in Georgia, but you’ll find just a small handful today. The longest of them all is the Red Oak Creek Covered Bridge in Woodbury, GA. Woodbury is a tiny city with a population of under 1,000 people. It’s in Middle Georgia and it’s a wonderful place for a quick day trip. Check it out:
Woodbury is a small town, and you won’t find many places to stay there, but it’s just a few minutes away from Warm Springs, where you’ll find tons of history and a great hotel in the Mountain Top Inn and Resort.
Have you ever been to Woodbury, GA, and seen the Red Oak Creek Covered Bridge, or maybe even crossed it? Share your experiences in the comments!
