If you’re a Georgia native there are some values that you learn to hold onto and never let go. Here are 12 life lessons everyone learns growing up in Georgia:
1) Family Comes First
We learned that family comes first and rarely will you see us put work before our family. The saying "blood is thicker than water" is something we hold dear to our hearts. However, we are known to adopt others-friends and neighbors into our family!
2) Always Mind Your Manners
"You know your mama taught you better!" We still have somewhat of a community raises a child mentality here and we grew up making sure to always say "please" and "thank you".
3) Sunlight & Fresh Air is Important
We were born and raised in the fresh air and sunlight. We can't live somewhere where we can't get out and enjoy nature!
4) Know Your Cardinal Directions
Speaking of nature--there's plenty of it in Georgia! I have many memories of exploring the woods and wilderness of Georgia. It's best to remember your girl and boy scout rules in order not to get lost!
5) Going to Church is Mandatory
There's no denying it--we love Jesus here in Georgia and we love going to church!
6) Food Unites Us
Food is very important to a family in Georgia. It's what we use to celebrate, reunite and connect with one another.
7) "Real Food" is Southern Food!
When Georgia people say they want some "real food" you know what they mean--fried chicken, collard greens, cornbread, fried fish, and more!
8) You Need a Car to Go Anywhere
You will not make it in Georgia without a car! Unless you live right in the city, the public transportation is horrible and you won't be getting around too much!
9) Coca Cola is Your Favorite Soda
You might have other sodas you drink from time and time again but you know that a Coke is your favorite soda!
10) Beware of Deer-Get a Taste For It
Hitting a deer with your car is a legitimate fear--one that will tear your car up and leave you banged up as well! You also know that deer hunting season is a serious thing here in Georgia. Expect to see some deer stew from your neighbors.
11) Trees Are Important
You never really notice how many trees we have here in Georgia until you leave. We have an abundance of trees and they are beautiful and refreshing.
12) Nature in Georgia is Beautiful
But most of all we have an abundance of beautiful nature and wildlife here in Georgia.
And We Seek To Preserve It
