While we’ve written in the past about some pretty incredible outdoor adventures in Georgia that you should try, this one might just be the very best of the best. Why would we name it Georgia’s top outdoor attraction? Because it fulfills quite a few requirements:

- Perfect for the whole family.

- Incorporates the great outdoors.
- You can relax and unwind, while still having fun.
- Did we mention it’s a blast?
We really could go on. But we won’t. Instead, we’ll show you. Have you ever floated down the Chattahoochee River?
The Chattahoochee River is around 430 miles miles long and forms the southern half of the Alabama and Georgia border, as well as a portion of the Florida border.
Tubing the ‘Hooch is a one-of-a-kind river adventure you’ll never forget. You can choose your own form of transportation down the beautiful and relaxing Chattahoochee River—canoe, raft, tube, or kayak. Heck, you can even stand-up paddleboard if you’d like. There are a ton of different companies that offer a variety of options on how to get down the river the safest and most fun way possible.
Shoot The Hooch, for example, is a company headquartered at Azalea Park in Roswell, Georgia, just minutes from downtown Atlanta. From the headquarters, you can make your way down the river on an hourly basis. The company has different types of trips, from a quick 1.5 hour jaunt to a longer all-day trek of 8 miles. The idea is simple, Shoot The Hooch will shuttle you from Azalea Park to the location of your choosing, then you simply paddle or float back to Azalea Park.
You can easily make this an all-day adventure with family or friends. You can work up an appetite on the water, then head back to headquarters and have a delicious picnic lunch.
Another fantastic company that’ll help you tube down the river, is Cool River Tubing.
Established in 1990, Cool River Tubing is located in Helen, Georgia, and boy, do they know a thing or two about tubing. On their website, you can find a step-by-step process on how to get from Point A: reading this article, to Point B: tubing down that sweet, sweet river. Just purchase tickets at their headquarters, choose between their one hour, two hour, and all-day tubing options, and voila! You’re all set to enjoy that summer sun and feel that refreshing water. Cool River Tubing also features a separate special event called Pooch on the Hooch, where you can bring along your furry friends.
This isn’t just a family-friendly outdoor activity, though. There are also certain companies which will allow adults the chance to float down the river, link up their tubes with friends, and bring coolers, too! River Tubing for example, which is located in Duluth, Georgia encourages guests to link their tubes together, set up a cooler for the afternoon, and float on down the river at their leisure. Sounds like an incredible way to spend the weekend, right?
