Ahh, the power of technology. Drone technology to be exact. While some people can’t stand the advancements made recently through drone technologies, others revel in the fact that at any given moment you can get a glimpse of any town, any city, any abandoned building from up above.

When used properly, drones can be pretty darn cool. These type of technological advancements allow us to see things from certain vantage points that in normal circumstances, we wouldn’t be able to. How else would we have been able to see this abandoned factory in Athens, Georgia from such a unique place in the sky?

With this creepy drone footage we’re able to see high above the city, flying over the rusted Chase Street Water Tower as well as the abandoned mill near Oneta Street.

The industrial complex, which is seemingly straight out of a horror flick now, is known as Southern Mill. The area originally started as the Southern Manufacturing Company complex, was built in 1902. Throughout the next few years, employees made cotton flannel on spindles and looms, and originally manufactured blue jeans, slacks, and overalls. A few buildings also stored dog food for a short period of time.

Unfortunately, a fire ripped through some of the buildings in the 1970s, damaging the interiors and leading to much needed renovations. Eventually, the entire plant closed in 1998.

Since then, the building has become dilapidated to say the least, with broken glass windows, rotting wooden beams and completely collapsed ceilings, all of which the drone captures perfectly.
