When we think of canal towns, our minds may automatically go toward someplace like Venice in Italy or Amsterdam in the Netherlands. But little did we know, Georgia has it’s very own canal town—a place where the industrial side of life flourished and commerce was in peak position. This historic town can attribute much of it’s growth to the construction of this canal, and visitors can still enjoy the waterway to this day.
