Running alongside the Cartecay River in Georgia is a set of mixed-use trails that offer some of the most beautiful natural views in Ellijay. Clocking in at 3.4 miles for hikers and six miles in length for bikers, the Cartecay River Loop Trail in Georgia is a great way to explore the outdoors. Take a look below to learn all about it.

The Cartecay River Loop Trail is situated within the Wildlife Management Area in Ellijay, Georgia.
With different trail options available, hikers can head out for a 3.4-mile trek, while mountain bikers can go a different route for six miles of mostly single-track trail.
Hikers and bikers will both be able to enjoy the twists and turns through nature, the densely forested pathways, and views of the rushing Cartecay River.
Bikers may find pockets of this trail challenging with elevation shifts, roots, and rocks. However, riding through the fields or crossing creeks makes everything well worth it.
Hikers will loop alongside the river for the majority of the route. With a few steep elevation changes, you'll want to be prepared for a moderately challenging hike.
Any hikers who wish to bring their canine companions along with them may do so because dogs are allowed on the trail. With that being said, they must always remain on a leash.
This scenic trail, whether hiking or biking, is the perfect place to kick back with a picnic and lounge by the river before looping back to the parking area.
