The “Best High Schools” list by U.S. News is a very reputable list that features many of Georgia’s fine schools every year. For this list, I’ve listed the best high schools and their cities, with number one being the best of the best.

1. Lawrenceville, GA - Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology
The Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science, and Technology comes in as #1 on our list! It is the best high school in the state and ranks 4th nationally. Gwinnett County in general is known for its great public schools.
2. Augusta, GA - Davidson Fine Arts
Augusta is another city known for its fine public school education. It then comes as no surprise that the second best high school in the state is Davidson Fine Arts in Augusta, GA. This school also ranks as #74 nationally.
3. Columbus, GA - Columbus High School
Columbus High School in Columbus, GA comes in as 3rd! It has an AP (Advanced Placement) participation rate of 94 percent. The AP tests are taken by high school students who take college-level coursework and upon completion, take a test that may qualify them to receive college credit. It seems this school really gives students the leg-up they need in college.
4. Avondale Estates, GA - Dekalb School of the Arts
Avondale Estates is one of the richest neighborhoods in Georgia and it has some of the best schools in Georgia. This particular school has a 79 percent female population. It is a part of the Dekalb County school system.
5. Savannah, GA - Savannah Arts Academy
Not only is Savannah beautiful, but it also has a great public school system as well! The AP participation at this school is high, with 86 percent of the students participating. It is ranked #173 nationally.
6. Alpharetta, GA - Milton High School and Alpharetta High School (10)
Alpharetta has two high schools on our list that have ranked both nationally and statewide. Even though Milton and Alpharetta High School are the only schools in Alpharetta to make the list, you can be assured that all of the schools in this city are up-to-par!
7. Marietta, GA - Walton High School
Walton High School, located in Marietta, is part of the Cobb County school district. Cobb County has a reputation for decent schools. This school ranks 7th statewide and is #223 on the national list of high schools.
8. Duluth, GA - Northview High School
Northview High School is #8 on our list and it also is part of the Gwinnett County school system. The school's test scores are impressive, with 99 percent proficient in English and 91 percent proficient in Math.
9. Johns Creek, GA - Johns Creek High School
Johns Creek High School is a school located in North Fulton and ranks 9th in the state of Georgia. It ranks 277 in the nation overall.
