I’m sure you’re not surprised by the vast amount of beauty and history that’s here in Georgia. We have grand historical buildings that are literally centuries old, and we even have a building that is the 10th largest in the country! The way these buildings are built is pure art, and their architectural structure is truly something to admire. Here are some of the best pieces of architecture in Georgia:
This beautiful new building at the GA Tech campus shows the new architectural trend that is emerging in Midtown. This stunning picture shows the long glass panels reflecting the sunlight, making for a more vibrant city!
The Georgian Terrace is a luxury hotel in the middle of Midtown. It is a beautiful wedding venue, houses the Livingston bar and restaurant and is an icon of the city. It was erected by architect William Lee Stoddart in a Beaux-Arts style that was intended to evoke the architecture of Paris.
The architecture of this house is simply stunning! Savannah is home to many architectural treasures and there are many different styles there. The ornamental ironwork is also something Savannah is known for. Many houses can be found with these intricate designs.
One of the only three buildings in Georgia, known as the "gold dome", the City Hall Dome in Savannah is one of the most distinctive buildings in this city. It was designed by Hyman Whitcover in 1905.
The Midtown skyline is one of the most stunning in Georgia. It is especially beautiful from Piedmont Park where the lights of the city light up the night!
Plains, GA is a charming little town that is situated in one of Georgia's most lucrative farming regions. The mix of new and old architecture is simply charming in the downtown region of Plains.
This grand city hall in Brunswick, GA is the heart of the city. People hold events such as class reunions and wedding receptions here. This building was designed by Alfred Eichberg and its style is Richardsonian Romanesque.
This historical mansion was designed by famed architect Philip Trammell Shutze, and was built in 1928. This mansion shows the elite life of southern royalty in the 1920s and 1930s. The Swan House is one of the most photographed landmarks in Georgia.
This is one of the most beautiful structures and churches in Georgia. This historical church was founded in the 1700s by the first French settlers in Georgia.
The Bank of America building is an impressive skyscraper in Midtown. It is the largest building in Georgia, the 10th largest building in the US and the 60th largest building in the world.
This beautiful Roman Catholic church in downtown Augusta was once for the growing Irish Catholic population in the late 19th-century. Now the church no longer holds mass, but it is open for tours and community events.
Sorry if I’m a little biased towards Savannah for this list. (It’s just that there are so many architectural gems in that city!) Are there any amazing architectural gems near your home or city? Show us pictures in the comments below!
