Ah, spring is in the air. Can you feel it, Georgians? As the haze of the winter temperatures lifts, we can start to feel the beginnings of spring appear once and for all. If you really want to get outside and get ready for what spring has to offer in Georgia, then we have the perfect hiking trail for you. On the Amicalola River Trail in Georgia, you’ll be able to hike through the forests in Dawsonville and end up at an epic waterfront area where you can cool off in the Amicalola River. Sound like heaven on earth? It just might be.
Hiking in Georgia sure showcases some of the best that nature has to offer, particularly the Amicalola River Trail.
Clocking in at under 3 miles roundtrip, this hiking trail is more of a moderate hike, that climbs well into the mountains of the Dawson Wildlife Management area.
During early spring you’ll find a plethora of nature just beginning to blossom, from the butterflies fluttering about to the wildflowers starting to open.
You’ll find an abundance of trees within the area, including white oak, pin oak, hickory, black cherry, and even a few dogwoods, too, plus waterfalls that pop up along the river.
