Georgia is filled with all different types of capitols. Besides Atlanta being the primary for the state, Dalton is the Carpet Capitol of the world, Cordele is the Watermelon Capitol of the world, Brunswick is the Shrimp Capitol of the world and Elberton is know as the Granite Capitol of the World.
This adorably quaint gold mining town was the spot for the very first gold rush in America. You can still visit the museum and absorb all the rich history.
There are many historic villages, or living history museums, throughout Georgia that are perfect for families and field trips. Like Westville, a historic village set in the 1800s where visitors can learn about Southern life back in the day, as well as trades such as pottery and basket weaving.
This high-running ridge between Marietta and Kennesaw is part of the Appalachian chain, and has a summit elevation of more than 1,800 ft. It's perfect for camping, hiking and the like.
Many minerals have been mined in Georgia, including the state mineral staurolite. Georgia is also ranked first in granite production and clay production.
There is a rich history for Native Americans in Georgia. Several tribes declared this beautiful state home once, while some descendants still remain here.
There are several observatories throughout the state where one can go to soak in all the knowledge and info their brain can hold. Check out the Hard Labor Creek Observatory, which is the largest in the southeastern U.S., or Bradley Observatory for some amazing astronomical teachings.

One of the most majectic spots in Georgia, Tallulah falls allows visitors to swim in the springs, kayak down the river, cross the suspension bridge, and hike the trails which lead to their flowing waterfalls.
