It’s not a long drive or road trip by any means but instead is a leisurely cruise throughout some of Georgia’s best mountains and forests.
The Cohutta-Chattahoochee Scenic Byway in north Georgia is the type of trip to take when you want to cruise through the peaceful forests and lush mountain ranges. The drive along this byway is wonderfully serene, with ample opportunities to stop along stunning mountain overlooks for endless views of Georgia.
When you drive the 54-mile trip along Cohutta-Chattahoochee Scenic Byway, you’ll encounter a little bit of everything along the way. Starting at the historic site Prater’s Mill, you’ll eventually go through the rolling hilltops throughout Murray County, and wind your way near Chattahoochee National Forest.

To experience the entirety of the Cohutta-Chattahoochee Scenic Byway, start at Prater’s Mill and take Interstate 575/State Route 515 north, toward Ellijay. Then, take State Route 52 west towards Chatsworth.
