Is the every day grind of your life wearing you down? If so, then it may be time to take a weekend breather. No, we’re not just talking about a drive up into the mountains for a quick hike. We’re talking about a two-day getaway for you to relax and rejuvenate your soul.
And what better way to unwind than with a relaxing weekend in Macon, Georgia.
Maybe the idea of traveling to this big city is a bit overwhelming. There may be so many different things to do that it’s hard to pinpoint an agenda. And of course, if you’re looking to unwind, the last thing you want to do is rack your brains with a schedule. So, we decided to endure the hard part of planning so that you can just sit back, relax and enjoy. Let’s begin with day one, shall we?
Your accommodations for the weekend will be at a beautifully charming place called 1842 Inn.

Did you know that Macon is known as the “Cherry Blossom Capital of the World”?
It's true. There are more than 300,000 Yoshino cherry trees, and especially during the spring and summer, they are absolutely worth perusing. Take a look around and snap some photos of these beautifully blossoming trees.
Next, take a stroll through the famed Rose Hill Cemetery.
This famed cemetery opened in 1840, and was designed for the sole purpose of being a place to visit for people of Macon and for visitors to the city. Walk through the landscape and appreciate the architecture throughout.

Have you worked up an appetite? Good, because it's time to EAT!
All that exploring must have worked up an appetite! Head on over to The Bears Den, which offers some delicious Southern favorites such as Mac 'n Cheese, green beans, and cornbread. Not to mention what some patrons have called the best fried chicken they have ever eaten.
After grubbing on some good food, head to the hotel and check in for the night. Unpack you things, take a shower and relax for a little in your Victorian bed. But wait, don’t close your eyes just yet….because the night isn’t over!
It's Saturday night. Check out what's going on at The Grand Opera House.
It could be a new band you've never heard, or a brand new Broadway show. Check out some sweet tunes or a play while relaxing in this historic hot spot.
Now you must be tired. Get some rest, because there is plenty more to do tomorrow!
ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzz
Good morning! Hope you’re well-rested. Is that your stomach grumbling? Well what do you know, I have just the cure…
Brunch at The Dovetail is a great way to start your day.
Dovetail, which is located right above The Rookery, is one of the most delicious spots for brunch in Macon. Snag yourself some delicious eats in a laid back atmosphere. Heck, maybe throw in a mimosa or two if you're feeling frisky. It is the weekend, after all.

Now that your belly is full, head over to the Georgia Music Hall of Fame.
Macon has such a rich musical heritage. It's home to such music greats as Little Richard and Otis Redding. The history can be discovered and absorbed with a much-needed visit to this hall of fame.
Okay, we've spent enough time indoors today. It's time to head outside to the Ocmulgee National Monument.
This prehistoric Native American site is one of the most fascinating parts of Macon. Different cultures had occupied this land for thousands of years. The Mississippian culture constructed mounds for their tribes to live, which still remain for the public to see and explore. Make sure you check out the Earth Lodge which is more than 1,000 years old.
How about that for a 2-day getaway in Macon? Great food, amazing culture, rich history and a bit of musical flare. What more could you ask for?
