Florida is a huge state, in both population and landmass, so it’s not easy to name every type of Floridian you’ll meet. We gave it a shot, though. Let us know where you fit in or what others we forgot.
1. Beach Dwellers
These folks remain gloriously tan all year round and always smell like the ocean. They spend every second of free time on the beach and dread having to interact with city dwellers.
2. Nature Lovers
Florida is a green dream with crystal blue waters and lots of unique wildlife. Outdoorsy people pick up on this quickly and take advantage of all our state has to offer.
3. Snowbirds
The upside of having extremely hot, long summers is our perfectly lovely winters. The downside of our perfectly lovely winters is an influx of northerners congesting our roads and crowding our towns and beaches.
4. Rednecks
Florida has such a unique flavor, sometimes we forget we're in the South. Then we remember these guys.
5. The Guy Who Never Leaves His Boat
It's kind of a big deal here.
6. The Retired
It's pretty much mandatory when you get to a certain age, that you have to move to Florida. Really, it's their world, and we're just living in it.
7. The Ridiculously Rich
All of the amazing weather and waterfront property draws tons of wealthy people for the rest of us to envy.
8. Middle-Aged Partiers
We have plenty of young people who party excessively, but there's something about our weather or beaches that encourage people to never grow up. Floridians too young to retire and probably too old to be hosting ragers every night party harder than ever here. As long as everyone's being safe, party on.
9. The Passholders
Most of these people are perfectly normal families who want to take advantage of being so close to our many parks. Then there are the singles and couples without children in their 20s and up who can't seem to get enough Disney and find any excuse to visit all year round. I have no explanation for them.
10. Crazies
We have plenty of good crazy and tons of bad crazy here. It's just a fact you have to accept if you want to stay here.
