Last week we told you about the huge museum of osteology in Orlando, where you can see hundreds of skeletons in unique and educational exhibits. If you thought that was cool, but not quite creepy enough, you should check out this fascinating shop, also in Orlando, where you can pick up some one-of-a-kind gifts or decor for your home:
Welcome to Carmine Oddities Boutique, located at 2708 North Orange Blossom Trail in Orlando.
Inside the shop, you can find all different kinds of weird items, including antiques, old medical tools, skulls and taxidermied animals, and art, usually with a creepy or bizarre theme.
The stuffed animals at Carmine Oddities are pretty impressive. The shop mascot, for example, is a thoughtful-looking goat seated in a cross-legged pose, dressed in quite a fancy costume.
The shop harkens back to the curiosity shops of Victorian times. There are skulls of all shapes and sizes, a stuffed goat rocking horse and doll, and a selection of glass eyes.
Not everything is creepy, though. There are some religious, scientific and historic items and antiques that are just plain interesting.
They also host movies, performances, and even classes (including DIY taxidermy classes).
Some might find it morbid, but others delight in the sheer weirdness of this curiosity shop. It's pretty fun just to stop in, grab a cup of coffee (in delightfully strange flavors, of course) and have a look around.
Have you ever visited Carmine’s Oddities Boutique? What’s your favorite unique place to shop in Florida?
