You might have heard the awesome news that the city of Naples has been named the happiest city in America for the past two years in a row. The #1 ranking was according to data gathered by the Gallup-Healthways State of American Well-Being 2016 Community Rankings, which looked at the physical health, financial well-being, social connections, community and sense of purpose in life of residents in 189 cities across the United States.
Now we have even more good news! Coastal Living‘s annual list of the Happiest Seaside Towns in America is out for 2017, and two places in Florida made the list, including one of our favorite small towns!
The tiny town of Fernandina Beach is located up in the very top northeast corner of the Sunshine State, on beautiful Amelia Island.
The very popular Isle of Eight Flags Shrimp Festival has been flooding the streets with hungry visitors from all over Florida and Georgia for more than 50 years.
This dreamy spot on Florida's west coast also ranked high on the happiest cities in America list we mentioned earlier. Sarasota is full of culture, history, charm, and natural beauty (but with more than 50,000 residents, we don't think of it as a "small town"). Of course, its residents still have plenty to smile about, because they live in one of the happiest places in the country!
We just want to say congratulations to these amazing Florida communities, and here’s to hoping that sunshine spreads across The Sunshine State!
Have you visited Fernandina Beach, Sarasota, or Naples? What town would get your vote for the happiest place in Florida?
