Earlier this year, Condé Nast Traveler announced their list of 207 of the best restaurants in the world. That sounds like a lot, but considering how many states and countries there are in the ENTIRE WORLD, it’s kind of amazing that any place in your state even made the list. Only one restaurant in Florida DID make the list, and it was an up-and-coming spot in Miami that you may or may not have heard of. Read on to learn more:
Alter is a popular spot in Miami's artistic Wynwood district.
For example, this dish of prawns & squid with green thai curry, and purple potato also features the very Floridian ingredients of kumquat and hearts of palm.
Or how about these Cape Canaveral prawns with tajin crust, grits, mole verde, lime crema, and huitlacoche? We don't know what half of that means either, but it sure looks incredible.
The so-called Soft Egg is so incredibly popular that it may be their signature dish. This scallop mouse is like a taste of the ocean, with a bit of gruyere cheese and truffle pearls, and of course, a perfectly runny egg, that has garnered endless compliments on social media.
You can probably guess from the elegant dishes we've seen thus far that this isn't a casual grab-a-bite-after-work kind of place. But if you're looking for a unique, unforgettable dining experience for a date, anniversary or other special occasion, you must give Alter a try. Just look at this incredibly inventive Cajeta pot de crème. Here we have a dulce custard with tamari-milk chocolate gelato, apricot, and candied nori. We're really not that surprised, though. After all, this is one of the best restaurants in the world.
Have you ever eaten at Alter? What do you think is the best restaurant in Florida? Do you think there were any other restaurants that should have made the list?
