The phenomenon of downsizing into a tiny house has swept the country, and many people swear by it. It’s a return to simplistic living and being able to travel at the drop of a hat. Chances are you’ve heard of a tiny home, but have you ever had the chance to tour one? If you’re curious as to what the hype is all about, you’ll want to mark your calendar for an utterly unique event coming to Florida. Hosted by LocalShops1, the annual St. Pete Tiny Home Festival is an exciting way to learn all about tiny houses. But that’s not all…you’ll also enjoy local food, shopping, and the general festivities promised by an unforgettable St. Petersburg event.
On the weekend of March 23rd and 24th, the St. Pete Tiny Home Festival will be making its way to the SPC Allstate Center.
This not-to-be-missed festival will be highlighting the latest in tiny home living. The festival will showcase 30 tiny structures, including custom homes, retail shops, and converted buses known as "skoolies."
A tiny home is defined as a living space of 500-square-feet or less. These units contain a bathroom, full kitchen, bed, dining area, and in some cases, a washer and dryer unit.
Tiny homes are most often built on wheels for added mobility, but they can also be built into the ground. Part of the appeal of these small spaces is a low cost of living and smaller carbon footprint.
The weekend will also include panel discussions and presentations about how to build your own tiny home, zoning regulations, and tips for decluttering and saving money.
All weekend, you can expect some downright delightful entertainment, such as live performances by the Urban Gypsies of Florida, an amazing band that blends tribal, disco, bluegrass, folk and other music genres. Plus, there will be local food trucks to keep you fueled throughout the day.
So whether you're considering a major downsize or are simply curious to see the latest trends in tiny homes, you'll be glad you stopped by this unexpectedly amazing festival.
