A few months ago, we told you about the Venitian Pool , the world’s largest spring-fed swimming pool, located right here in Florida. Although it is beautiful, it is far from the only natural swimming pool where you can swim in clear spring water. Check out another one of our favorite swimming holes, this time in Central Florida:
Juniper Springs Recreation Area is located along SR 40, in the heart of the Ocala National Forest. This means even your drive to get there will be scenic and enjoyable.
This is one of the oldest and most popular recreation sites in the region, as you can see from this photo, taken in 1955.
You might think nothing in Florida has stayed the same in the last 60 years, but this gorgeous pool looks almost exactly the same today.
The area is surrounded by subtropical scenery and historic structures like this millhouse, built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.
The water is incredibly clear and blue, and it stays a cool 72 degrees year round, making it the perfect escape from the summer heat.
Enjoy a relaxing day swimming, picknicking, hiking the trails, and even camping.
Juniper Springs is a beautiful natural oasis that every Floridian should experience at least once. Its location in Central Florida means it is accessible to almost anyone for an awesome road trip.
Have you ever visited Juniper Springs Recreation Area? What’s your favorite place in Florida for a swim?
