Life can be pretty sweet living in Florida. Ask most Florida residents, and they’ll say the same. For me, having access to so many different attractions, events, restaurants, and adventures makes the Sunshine State so special. But if you really want to get to the heart of what makes Florida so sweet, you might need to head to one of the most charming small towns in Florida: Clewiston. The town has been dubbed not just Florida’s Sweetest Town, but America’s Sweetest Town – and for good reason. Come visit Clewiston, Florida, and see for yourself how this small town earned its coveted country-wide nickname.
Clewiston, Florida - America’s Sweetest Town - earned its moniker not just for the friendly demeanor of the locals.
Plus, there are plenty of things to do in Clewiston.

Clewiston, established in 1925 and encompassing a mere 4.57 square miles, enjoys a central position in the southern region of Florida. It sits approximately 60 miles east of Fort Myers along the Gulf of Mexico and 60 miles west of Palm Beach on the Atlantic Ocean.
Because of the proximity to Lake Okeechobee, Clewiston had huge sugar plantations established nearby, which allowed it to become one of the most dominant manufacturers of sugar in the country.
Today, one of the major draws for visitors to America’s Sweetest Town is the annual Sugar Festival. Taking place either late February or early March, people gather together to celebrate the region's rich sugar cane heritage with parades, live music, arts and crafts, and delicious sugary treats.
Make sure that while you’re in town, you stop by the famed Clewiston Inn. Built back in 1938 by the U.S. Sugar Company, this inn was used predominantly to host executives from sugar companies, as well as visiting dignitaries.
