The Florida Panhandle already has a reputation for amazing seafood, but there’s a good chance you’ve never heard of this hidden gem. There’s nothing better than an authentic Florida seafood shack, and the dishes at this beloved local hangout will make your mouth water.
Killer Seafood is housed in an unassuming little building in Mexico Beach, a tiny coastal town in Northwest Florida.
Like the best seafood shacks should be, Killer Seafood is a laid-back, seat-yourself, cash-only establishment. The bar is wallpapered with signed dollar bills and some pretty unique decor hangs on the walls.
Everyone agrees that the fish tacos are a must-try item, but there's something for everyone here. The menu includes a wide variety of fresh seafood, including smoked tuna dip, soft-shell crab, lots of perfectly prepared shrimp dishes, and even burgers. And what kind of seafood joint would it be if they didn't have top-notch hushpuppies and Key lime pie?
The secret sauce at Killer Seafood is literally a secret sauce. Many of their finger-licking dishes are prepared with their homemade Killer Seafood Simmerin' Sauce. Luckily, it is available for purchase at the restaurant, so you can bring some home with you.
They close for a short time for the holidays, so you'll have to wait until after they reopen on January 1st if you want to sample some Killer Seafood. But try to be patient, because some things are truly worth waiting for.
