It’s always a step back in time to visit St. Augustine, and there are no shortages of great places to eat. The next time you visit the nation’s oldest city, make sure you visit this incredible restaurant that recreates the early 1900s inside of a historic manufacturing plant.
When you step into the Ice Plant Bar in St. Augustine, it feels like entering a movie set.
The restaurant occupies the top floor of an old ice plant that once supplied ice for the city's fishing industry.
Inside and out, the restaurant has been beautifully restored in a style reflecting its 1927 construction. With the high ceilings and rails overhead, it has a very industrial look, but the historic touches keep it from feeling cold.
The restaurant sits on top of the St. Augustine Distillery, so you can expect a wide variety of craft cocktails, including hometown specialties like the Flagler Billionaire and the Florida Mule.
In homage to the building's roots, the bar serves three different kinds of ice and can even create custom cubes from a 300-pound block.
This isn't just a bar, though. The Ice Plant has an impressive menu of farm-to-table dishes, from sandwiches to seafood. And don't worry, this is not your average "bar food."
Before you dine, make sure you stop by the distillery for a free tour and samples of the liquors used to the fancy drink you're about to enjoy.
If you want to check out this time machine for yourself, it is open daily for lunch, dinner, and late-night drinks.
Ice Plant Bar is located at 110 Riberia St, St Augustine, FL 32084
