We already know that as Floridians, we have many privileges that other states do not. But it’s not just residents that understand the privileges, it’s also the visitors! Why do you think so many people visit Florida every year? The perks of living in Florida are so rewarding, we decided to compile them into a list for all to enjoy. See how many of these Florida privileges you can relate to.
1. We can visit the beach year-round. And enjoy it.
Sure, this is something that can be done in other coastal states. However, when you’re visiting the beaches of Maine during wintertime and the temps are hovering around 20 degrees, then you’ll wish you were in Florida.
2. Some of the best college football teams are right here.
It’s true for any Florida college football lover that you’ll have your pick of which teams to root for. Florida State, University of Miami, University of Florida—we’ve got some of the best of the best here.
Okay, so while "Florida Man" has become the butt of many jokes because let’s face it, some zany things happen here, it’s still pretty unique. You don’t hear too many "North Dakota Man" wild stories now do you?
Without going straight to the source in actual Cuba, Florida has the best Cuban food in the country. You’ll find some of the greatest flan, Cuban sandwiches, empanadas, and mojo on nearly every corner in Miami.
Key Lime Pie is what we’re known for around these parts, and we take this privilege seriously. When it comes to getting Key Lime Pie in Florida, it’s practically on every menu. But the best of the best will come from The Keys.
6. We’re home to the Butterfly Capital of the World.
The largest butterfly park in the entire world is located in Coconut Creek and was opened in 1988. Butterfly World is a true gem and home to around 20,000 butterflies. You can’t find that anywhere else.
It is a privilege to live in Florida and to have this type of weather year-round. You can’t beat the winters, which hold very little snowfall, if any, and the summers which are filled with beach days and sunshine.
Have you ever been to Daytona Beach? Well, if you haven’t, then it’s high time you trekked out to what’s been dubbed the most famous beach in the world. According to the city website, Daytona Beach attracts around 8 million visitors every year. WOW.

9. It’s a privilege to be able to wear flip flops and shorts 365 days of the year.
While everyone else breaks out the sweaters and snow boots, we are still in our same old worn pair of flip-flops. Plus, if the weather is above 60 degrees, then we already know it’s still time for shorts.
