When you normally think of summer in Florida, you probably think of things along the lines of long beach days, sipping on frozen drinks, and day trips to the natural springs. However, we have one summer adventure that is unique unto itself and worth so much more than you could imagine. Bring the whole family, because this is one experience not to miss.
There is a summer adventure In Florida that you have to experience firsthand in order to understand how special it is.
From spring to early fall, female sea turtles start their quest of building nests on the beaches in Florida and laying eggs at night, before returning back to the ocean.
The Museum of Discovery and Science in Fort Lauderdale has a Summer Sea Turtle Walk for participants of all ages in order to experience this moonlit adventure in person.
Then, expert staff members from the museum will lead the group to the beach, where participants will be able to see the nesting grounds in person and sometimes even watch the mother lay her eggs!
While there isn’t a guarantee that each walk will provide a unique sea turtle sighting, it’s worth it just to experience something this magical in Florida.
In order to participate in this summer adventure, visit the Museum of Discovery and Science website. There are specific dates in 2018 in which the walks take place, so make sure to check the calendar to find out when the next walk will be. Ticket prices for the walk are $19 for members of the museum an $21 for non-members. The address for the Museum of Discovery and Science is 401 S.W. Second Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312.
