Sometimes the best small towns in a state are the ones that are way out there, but still worth the trek. This is absolutely the case for this small town in northwest Florida. While some might not want to make the trip from southern parts of the state, it’ll be worth it once you see the charm, style, and panache that this wonderful little town adds.
For most, DeFuniak Springs, Florida would probably not even be in the running for a day trip since it is a tad bit out-of-the-way in the northwestern part of the panhandle.
But there is so much charm ad beauty within the town, it’ll become a bucket-list must for those who enjoy history, architecture, and scrumptious under-the-radar-restaurants.
As the weather gets hotter, you may want to enjoy the day at Lake DeFuniak, a perfectly circular lake that is one of only two of its kind in the entire world!
There is more to the history of DeFuniak Springs than meets the eye—visitors can walk in the same footsteps as presidents, famous poets, songwriters, astronauts, national heroes, and Hollywood movie stars.
Grab a bite to eat at one of the many mom and pop shops throughout the town, like H & M Hot Dogs, which is a tiny counter-serve spot that offers up the best burgers and hot dogs in town.
