If you’re interested in art and culture, check out the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art. This museum is a fascinating blend of art, architecture, gardens and circus memorabilia. For a more hands-on experience, try Art Center Sarasota, a community art center where visitors can view exhibitions and take classes.

For a day at the park, head over to Island Park at the marina. Have a picnic, let the kids play in the splash park, and get a photo with the famous Unconditional Surrender statue.

For an incredible meal, Yoder’s Amish Village & Restaurant. Guests rave about the comfort food at this longstanding family-owned Sarasota landmark. Even if you’re full, grab a slice of pie to go. You won’t regret it. If you can’t get enough of the Amish crafts and cooking, check out the weekend farmers market in Pinecraft, Sarasota’s Amish community. How did an Amish community end up in Florida? Basically, this unique community serves as a spot for Amish snowbirds and retirees.

If you’re looking for a fun family activity, the Mote Marine Laboratory’s Mote Aquarium is perfect for you. Kids will marvel at everything from sharks to jellyfish at this not-for-profit research lab.

Of course, if all you want is the perfect day at the beach, Sarasota has some of the best beaches in the country.
