If you’ve ever been to South Beach, Florida, after 1988, then you’ve likely come across or have dined at News Cafe in South Beach. This iconic sidewalk cafe was synonymous with Miami Beach for decades until it shuttered a few years back, leaving residents and tourists speechless. But there is good news for anyone who frequented the South Beach staple that helped to pioneer the rebirth of the Art Deco district. News Cafe is BACK in its former space and is just as cozy as ever. Check out this iconic South Beach cafe and how it’s resurged to its former glory.
Back again after being shuttered for two years is the iconic News Cafe in South Beach, Florida.
Founded in 1988, The News Cafe was one-part restaurant, one-part newsstand, with famous guests like Gianni Versace who walked almost daily to pick up a paper and grab breakfast.
The thing about News Cafe that most residents and even tourists know is that this place is synonymous with breakfast. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, The News Cafe was the place to go in the wee hours of the morning or on a slow, lazy Sunday.
But the menu didn’t just stop there. The News Cafe was also the place to go after a day spent in the sun at the beach, grabbing an ice-cold beer and platter of nachos before heading home.
Today, this South Beach staple has reopened under new ownership, but in the same iconic location, it once held - on Ocean Drive underneath a boutique hotel.
