This Train In Florida Is Actually A Restaurant And You Need To Visit
A couple of months ago we told you about an exciting dining experience in Sarasota aboard the retired Ringling Circus cars on Bob’s Train.
If you’ve tried Bob’s Train and you’re hungry for more, we have just the thing for you. The Murder Mystery Dinner Train in Fort Myers is not just dinner on a train, it’s dinner theater on a train! If you’re like me, then you’re already trying to think of everyone you know who would want to come with you and planning when you’ll call them. If you need to hear more before you make up your mind, here are the details.
The Murder Mystery Dinner Train experience takes place on a real F-unit train that runs on the Seminole Gulf Railway. The train travels about 40 miles round trip over 3 and a half hours, while you enjoy a five-course meal and a murder mystery show. Guests are encouraged to participate in trying to solve the mystery.
Reviews of the experience are mostly positive, but there are a few people who leave disappointed. We think we can explain this. Is it cheesy? Sure, but if you know someone who loves trains or dinner theater, a ride on this train is probably the perfect gift. If you don’t like either of these things, then you will probably want to jump off the train. Remember that three and a half hours of anything you don’t like is a long time. If you do enjoy these things, you will have lots of fun and a very memorable evening.
The acting is over the top in a fun way, and the food is surprisingly good (it’s prepared on a moving train). The cost is around $70 per person (plus tip), but if you add up how much it would cost to take a train ride, go out to eat, and go to a show, it seems pretty reasonable.
Have you ever taken the Murder Mystery Dinner Train? What’s your favorite off-the-wall attraction in Florida?
