Spring has sprung, and that means it’s the perfect time to celebrate the Great Outdoors (before the heat of summer). There’s no better way to celebrate the real Florida than a trip to one of our most beautiful parks.
Fort de Soto Park in St. Petersburg is a true gem, with some of Florida's most beautiful campgrounds and beaches. You've probably seen it on some of the country's best beaches lists.
Here you'll find plenty of spots covered by the ancient oaks and palms, which means plenty of shade and privacy.
These campgrounds can accomodate primitive and RV camping, with electric and water hook-ups available.
Many of the campsites are right on the water, with spectacular views of the bay and lagoon.
The campgrounds are clean and well-kept, and the camp store has anything you could need (plus pizza and ice cream if you get sick of camping food).
Pet-lovers can rejoice, because a section of the beach and campgrounds has been reserved for campers with dogs.
There's so much to see and do here, including biking, hiking, kayaking, and fishing.
And, of course, there's the historic fort waiting to be explored!
You'll need to make a reservation far in advance, and it is pricier than some campsites, but we know that Fort de Soto will become one of your favorite Florida campgrounds.
Address: 3500 Pinellas Bayway S, Tierra Verde, FL 33715.
Visit the Pinellas County parks’ official site to reserve a place at Fort De Soto Park.
Have you ever stayed at these campgrounds? What’s your favorite place for camping in the Sunshine State?
