The Sunshine State is full of magical experiences, and not just at the “most magical place on Earth.” We feature incredible places all over the state, but somehow we always end up back in St. Augustine. The nation’s oldest city is full of history, nature, food, and fun.
If you’ve ever been to St. Augustine, you’ve probably noticed the adorable “trolley” tours scooting around the historic streets.
If you're like me and you're suspicious of anything "touristy," you might have resisted this form of transportation in the past. We're here to tell you this is one of those times when it's okay to join the tourists. On a busy day, the city can get crowded, a lot of streets are narrow, and finding a parking spot can seem impossible. And if you actually want to see everything, you'll have to do a lot of frustrating driving and parking.
The trolley tours provide three days worry-free transportation, with over 20 stops at some of the most interesting places in one of our favorite Florida cities. The trolley allows passengers to get on and off freely at any stop.
The day tours are great, and ghost tours are also available, but the truly magical rides we were so excited to tell you about will start just a couple months from now, during St. Augustine's famous Nights of Lights.
The Holly Jolly Nights of Lights Trolley tours will take you past the city's stunning architecture and landmarks at night, covered in millions of tiny lights. This is sure to become one of your family's favorite holiday traditions.
The trolley will run nightly during Nights of Lights, from November 20 - January 2, 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21, 27 and 28. Trolleys will be departing every 10 to 15 minutes from 6pm to 9pm. Tickets are $12.99
for adults, $5.99 for kids ages 6-12, and free for kids under 6.
Check out this video to get an idea of how pretty the Holly Jolly Nights of Lights tour is:
Park for free at one of the following places to take a free shuttle to the trolley: The Old Jail, 167 San Marco Ave., St. Augustine, Welcome Center, 1700 N. Ponce de Leon Dr., St. Augustine, or the Welcome Center West, 1301 N. Ponce de Leon Dr., St. Augustine.
I know it’s a little early, but I am SO excited for the holiday season, and you can bet I’ll be taking my family on this trolley ride. Reservations are not necessary, but tickets can be purchased ahead of time on the Old Town Trolley Tour’s website.
