There is something truly special about being able to still pull over on a road trip in Florida and find pockets of history that you never knew excited. Personally, this is one of my favorite parts about travel – learning something new! For anyone who is in or traveling through the Stuart area, I recommend pulling off for an afternoon at the House of Refuge Museum at Gilbert’s Bar. This little-known slice of Florida history is truly something special, dating back all the way to the late 1800s.
