If you’re the world’s biggest fan of Florida’s official state pie, there is an incredible annual festival in the Sunshine State that deserves a spot on your bucket list.
This annual celebration takes place in the birthplace of Key lime pie, Key West. There's no better place to celebrate all things Key lime. Like any good celebration in the Florida Keys, the Florida Key Lime Festival is lots of fun. The event lasts for four days, from June 30th to July 4th, and includes several exciting events.
On Saturday, June 30th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the party begins with an event like nothing you've ever seen before. Participants put on their inventor's caps and test their pie parachutes by dropping Key lime pies from the top of the Key West Lighthouse, trying to ensure that the pie makes it safely to the ground undamaged. Whether you join the challenge or watch from the ground, the pie drop is lots of fun.
Saturday afternoon, you can join in the Key Lime Cocktail Sip and Stroll. Taste and judge 12 different Key-lime flavored martinis and margaritas on this crawl through seven different locations. Then, on Sunday afternoon, you can hop from place to place in the town that brought us Key lime pie and sample five unique variations of our favorite dessert in the Key Lime Pie Hop.
On Monday, the third day of the event, visitors can take part in a distillery tour with a sampling of rum made with real local Key limes. Then, you can assemble your team of super sleuths and explore some of Key West's hidden gems and iconic landmarks on a Key lime scavenger hunt.
We're pleased to offer a full 4 days of culinary events for every taste, including favorites from past years like the Key Lime Cocktail Sip & Stroll, and new favorites for Key Lime lovers like The Key Lime Pie Hop. We've also added intimate culinary events. Once again, we expect most of the events to sell out. Check out our 2018 schedule below. Registration will open soon.
The final day of the festival (July 3rd) marks a very special event: The Mile High Key Lime Pie Eatin' Contest. Compete to see if you have what it takes to devour an entire Key lime pie faster than anyone else and get crowned the World Champion. If you're not up for the challenge, you can still have a blast watching this ridiculously messy spectacle from the sidelines. Following the festival, you can head down to the Casa Marina Resort for 4th of July fireworks and a picnic.
