Editor’s Note: This playground has changed ownership and is undergoing some cool changes. The new name is called Flippo’s. For more information please visit Flippo’s website.
Does anyone else remember those awesome indoor playgrounds from the ’90s? When it was too cold or (more likely) too hot or rainy to play outdoors, you could go swimming in a massive ball pit or get lost in miles of giant hamster tubes. As a mom, I know I’ve searched for something similar, and they are surprisingly hard to find these days. Well, look no further:
Funderdome Indoor Playground & Cafe is located at 1455 SE 17th Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 33316.
Although Discovery Zone, the most popular chain from the '90s, doesn't exist anymore, this epic indoor playground in Fort Lauderdale comes pretty close. If you were a kid or a parent of young children in the '90s, it will bring back some great memories.
When your children are in different age groups, it can be a struggle to find a place that keeps them both entertained. Kids from the age of six months old to 13-years-old can play in designated areas with attractions and activities appropriate to their age group.
Some of the really cool features include a sky walk rope course high above the playground, a laser maze, styrofoam ball cannons, and a 30-foot-tall tower of more than 20 obstacles, including tunnels and super slides.
Parents of toddlers will appreciate that there is a separate area for games and toys for kids three and under, so you can feel safe with your little one.
Adults are welcome to go through the activities with their children (which can be pretty fun), or parents of older kids can opt to sit in the cafe and relax. You can have a meal or use the free WiFi.
As the temperature drops, parents start looking for ways to keep their kids from going stir crazy. Funderdome provides a safe and fun way for youngins to get all of that energy out. It's great for really hot or rainy days, too.
Funderdome is currently closed Monday through Wednesday. Please remember to bring socks if you’re going to play. Prices range from $8 to $16, depending on the age of the child. Two adults get in free with each child admission, but there is an additional $5 charge for adults to use the climbing wall, rope course, and laser maze.
Have you ever visited the Funderdome Indoor Playground in Fort Lauderdale? Where do you go for family friendly fun on a cold, hot, or rainy day?
