Panama City is known worldwide for its white sand beaches. This city also offers much history. The St. Andrew Bay and Beach located in Panama City are quaint and historic. St. Andrew Bay was place on the map soon after the discovery of Florida in 1513. This place has many connections to the Civil War and even had pirates roaming the waters during the 18th and 19th centuries. The bay area is also known as a resort for people of the interior counties of Florida, Georgia, and Alabama and features houses built during the Antebellum years. Not far from the bay is historic downtown Panama City which features many small shops and restaurants. It is a great place for those who want somewhere to go other than the tourist-heavy Pier Park area of Panama City.
