The history behind Lichgate in Tallahassee, Florida is one that will make all nature lovers want to visit this beautiful space.
Many moons ago, Dr. Laura Pauline Jepsen, an English professor at Florida State University, purchased a stunning property in order to protect the ancient oak trees, but also to built a cottage to call home.
It took Miss Jepsen two years to find the perfect place to build her home, and she absolutely fell in love with the tree at Lichgate, saying "it was a tree to inspire poets."
The tree eventually became registered as the Lichgate Oak with the Live Oak Society, and guess how much the payment is to register the oak tree…twenty-five acorns a year!
