Everyone needs a day off every now and then, just to keep their sanity intact. But what are you going to do on that day off? Take a soak in a fragrant bath followed by curling up with a book? Sure, if your idea of relaxing is being boring, but not us! We think an adventurous day trip is the perfect way to recharge your batteries, and this is one of our favorites.
You've probably heard of Sarasota's Ringling Museum and St. Petersburg's Dali Museum, but this fascinating museum in Central Florida has somehow remained under the radar.
The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, located in Winter Park, is practically a treasure chest of beautiful, colorful works of art.
The musuem has the most comprehensive collection of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany in the world. This includes dazzling jewelry, pottery, paintings, sparkling art glass, and gorgeous leaded-glass lamps and stunning windows.
Not only is the museum worth a visit, the surrounding town of Winter Park is lovely and quaint, making this the perfect day trip destination. Take a stroll past the fountains, flowers, and trees of Central Park.
After a few hours at the museum, you should still have time for a scenic boat ride through the lakes and canals of this picturesque town.
Then, you can spend the rest of the day perusing the shops and choosing from one of the many fine restaurants in the charming, historic downtown area.
I don’t know about you, but this sounds like a pretty perfect day trip to me.
Have you ever been to the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum in Winter Park? What’s your perfect Florida day trip?
