Who doesn’t love a good challenge? Sure, if you’re a glutton for punishment, you could start training for a triathlon. If you’re just a plain old glutton, however, head to one of these awesome eateries and stuff your face for fun and profit. And free t-shirts.
1. Poblano's Mexican Grill & Bar, Clearwater and Bradenton
The 20 in 40 Taco Challenge: This challenge takes place every Monday at Poblano's. Winners receive their name on the wall of fame, a free shirt, and get this massive meal for free. Tacos are $1 apiece on Mondays, so losing this challenge will only set you back $20.
2. Teak Neighborhood Grill, Orlando
The Twin Teak Towers Burger Challenge: 2 full pounds Angus beef, 9 slices American cheese, 9 slices Swiss cheese, 9 slices provolone cheese, 24 slices smoked bacon, 2 fresh fried mozzarella rounds, 4 beer battered onion rings, tomatoes, lettuce, Danny’s bean-less chili, cheddar cheese sauce & sliced jalapenos. If you can finish this monstrous creation in 45 minutes, you'll be one of very few names on a wall of fame, recieve a free t-shirt, and your huge meal will be free. If not, it will cost you $40.
3. Nitally's ThaiMex Cuisine, St. Petersburg
Nitally's Inferno Soup Challenge: A 48-ounce bowl of soup containing some of the hottest peppers from around the world. This challenge was once thought to be impossible, with the prize gradually growing larger and larger, up to $1,500. But it was finally won, and it seems these days the deal goes like this: If you win, your bowl of fire was free, and you win $100. If you lose, you pay $65. It's not any easier, though, so you better really enjoy extremely spicy food for this one.
4. Solorzano Bros. Pizza, Sarasota
The #GAVONE Challenge: A 20" House Pie, a half-dozen garlic knots, and a garlic cheese bread. Is this even possible? You self-professed gavones out there will have to eat all this in less than 30 minutes to win the challenge. If you can do it, your meal will be free, you'll get a snazzy t-shirt, and a $25 gift token. Good luck!
5. Rock n Roll Ribs, Coral Springs
Appetite of the Beast Challenge: This 10-lb barbecue feast would normally feed a family of four, but you'll have to finish it in an hour. Winners get a free shirt and their name on the wall of fame, along with their free meal. Losers get a stomachache and have to pay $62. But on the bright side, you'll probably have enough leftovers for a week. Fun fact: Rock n Roll Ribs is owned by Nicko McBrain, drummer for the metal band Iron Maiden.
6. Eddie's Bar & Grill, Dunedin
Eddie's Monsta Burger Challenge: This 3-lb burger served with 1 lb of fries is free if finished in 30 minutes. You'll also get your name on the wall of fame and a free t-shirt, of course.
7. Steamin, Jacksonville
The "Fat Boy" Challenge: Two steam burgers, four hot dogs, wings, 3 pounds of fries, a banana split, and a shake or malt. It seems impossible, but it's truly a sweet deal for the winner. If you can finish it within an hour, not only will your meal be free, you'll win $150.
