Believe it or not, living in Florida is not all sunshine, rainbows, and tropical vacations. Things can be stressful, despite living in a little slice of paradise. And in order for us to maintain a level of sanity throughout the year, there are a few things that we need a break from. Now, don’t get me wrong, we’re not complaining. Florida is downright beautiful and we have the photos to prove it. But everyone needs a break sometimes, and these are the things we need a break from in order to maintain our tropical zen-like mindset.
Whether it's for spring break or visiting from another state, please stop trashing our beaches. Because if you don't, we're going to come to where you live and dump a big pile or garbage on your front lawn and see how you like it.
Yes, we get it, Florida gets hot. Ready hot. And humid. But can't we just have a break? For one summer? Make it mild so that we don't sweat through our outfits when we step out of the house?
Yeah, we need a break from hurricanes. And tropical storms. And tropical depressions. If anyone has the beeper number for Mother Nature, please leave it in comments section. We need to have words.
Traffic in Florida is some of the worst in the country. If you hit the roads at the wrong time, you can expect to be bumper-to-bumper for hours. Wouldn't it be nice if for just one day you didn't have anxiety when the clock hit 5 p.m. and you knew what was waiting for you on the Turnpike?
Beyond the whole traffic debacle, many Florida drivers are essentially the worst. The problem though, is that they are risking their lives and the lives of people around them. Take your time and don't be a dummy, because it's probably not worth the risk anyway.
Did anyone else hear about the 67-year-old woman last year in a turkey costume who was stuffing purses, jewelry, and a waffle maker inside the said turkey costume? Right, just the whole country did.
Were there ever days when you felt like spending the day at the beach and it wasn't like the Hunger Games to find a spot in the sand, close to the water, away from screaming kids and loud music? One can only dream...
We need a break from the overpriced food and beverages. Period. There is no reason why a cocktail should cost $20+ and a restaurant bill should be half of your mortgage or rent. Nope. No way.
That time when the weather does not forecast any storms and so you don't bring an umbrella and then out of nowhere is downpours and you basically sit around the rest of the day like a wet sock. Yeah, let's take a break from those unexpected storms, please.
Florida has quite a few sports teams, all of which deserve our love and devotion. But those people that come and go like the tide instead of rolling around through the tough seasons, too, should officially have their fandom cards revoked.
No, Disney World is not in our backyard, and no, we do not go every weekend.
