Christmas is going to look a little bit different this year in Florida for many families. While there may still be a plethora of lights strung on the rooftops of houses and through the palm trees, the gatherings will be limited. But, that doesn’t mean it’s all bad, does it? We’ve come up with a light-hearted list of things everyone is thinking during a Florida quarantine Christmas that hopefully will give you a good laugh.
1. “Thank Goodness We Have Some Of The Best Winter Weather In The State.”
The truth is, we’re extremely lucky to live in a state that has warmer weather throughout the winter. While many Americans will be stuck inside during the quarantine this winter, Floridians will still be able to be outside, socially distancing at the beach, or enjoying our backyards.
This is likely going to be the question on everyone’s minds, especially children! If Santa’s Enchanted Forest in Miami has been a tradition for your family every year, then you’re likely disappointed this year. The World’s Largest Holiday Theme Park officially canceled the 2020 season, which has been heartbreaking, to say the least.
We can easily enjoy the holidays in Florida while still socially distancing at many different events throughout the state. For instance, Daytona International Speedway is still hosting the annual holiday drive-through light show. Also, Selby Gardens in Sarasota is having a walking tour of their beautifully lit up botanical gardens.
Being outside comfortably during Christmas isn’t possible for many people throughout the country. But in Florida, you can still gather with family, just as long as you keep a safe distance and wear your masks. So, why not celebrate outside with the ultimate beachside picnic?!
5. “Rather Than Celebrating Christmas In Shorts, I Hope My Sweatpants Will Suffice.”
Let’s be honest, wearing shorts and t-shirts during Christmastime is likely only a Florida thing. But this year, your ensemble might look a bit different, especially if you’re celebrating in a quarantine Christmas. Keep the sweatpants going, because really, why not?
6. “Heyyy, Sorry You Can’t Come Down This Year For The Holidays, But (Insert Totally Plausible Pandemic Reason).”
Don’t want your relatives crashing your holidays? Do you have random family members and friends who use the holidays to escape their own snow-filled states? Rather than feeling guilty this year for wanting to say no, you actually have an entirely plausible reason.
7. “Welp, At Least We Can Still Socially Distance From Our Boats.”
Socially distancing is entirely possible when you’re out on the open water in separate vessels. Gather with friends and family in different watercraft but still be able to celebrate the holidays by seeing all the city lights or decorating your own boats together.
Let’s keep this list going, Floridians! Make sure to add your very own things everything is thinking during a Florida quarantine Christmas in the comments section. We’d love to hear from you!
