Here's Everything We Know About Florida's Brand New High-Speed Train
A future of high-speed travel could be closer than we think.
The past years have seen several attempts to bring a high-speed train to Florida, but all have failed. Until now, that is. Just recently, the rail service provider Brightline has announced that it won’t be long before these trains are in operation. As early as this summer, several of these high-speed trains could be up and running from Miami to Orlando. Here’s more on what’s been confirmed thus far:

The first set released is known as "BrightBlue" and consists of four passenger coaches and two locomotives. Following sets will be known as BrightOrange, BrightPink, BrightRed and BrightGreen, all of which could be up and running by this summer.

These initial operations will run from Orlando to West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, and Miami.

The entire stretch from Orlando to Miami should take approximately three hours, which developers claim is the about the same time it takes to get to the airport, navigate security and fly the same distance.

The service will also include options for quick snacks or larger meals, either at the stations or on the train.

A group known as the Citizens Against Rail Expansion argue that this developing rail station could compromise safety. The route of the railway actually divides first responders from their local hospitals in some places.

Officials are expecting nearly 3 million passengers in the first year of operation. By 2018, it’s predicted that the number of passengers will jump to 5.5 million.
