A Drone Flew High Above This Abandoned Hotel In Florida And Caught This Truly Eerie Footage
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
Harder Hall is an impressive historic hotel and golf resort that sits on Little Lake Jackson. It was completed in 1927 during Florida’s land boom. In 1953, its new owners commissioned a championship-layout golf course, which is still in use today. It was quite the destination, hosting major tournaments and famous guests. In 1982, it was purchased by a group of investors that planned to convert it to timeshares. They went bankrupt and the hotel has been abandoned ever since. The hotel was listed on the National Register of Historic Places and saved from demolition. In 2005 and 2006, a restoration was attempted, but the new owner ran out of money halfway through. The city bought the hotel at auction in 2007. The golf course is still in use today and open to the public.
In this video created by Tad Serralta, a drone flies around the historic hotel and even inside the building (with permission of the owners). Hopefully, someday it will be restored to its former glory and open to the public again.
