DJ’s Clam Shack in Key West is one of five outposts for this seafood hideaway in the United States, with three locations in New York and another in Indian Shores, Florida.

However, many people gravitate toward the Key West location because of the laidback atmosphere and delightfully fresh seafood. Plus, it’s the original location out of them all!

While this menu is quite extensive the first time you visit, it essentially has four featured menu items: the overstuffed Maine lobster roll, conch fritters, Mahi Mahi tacos, and the garlic steamed Middle Neck clams.

The clams, as the namesake suggests, are a true gem, featuring a rich, garlic butter broth, plus tender clams just waiting to be shucked and scooped.

The shop itself is extremely low-key, with limited seating inside and an adorable patio area to enjoy the Florida sunshine.

Some patrons have even gone so far as to say this is hands down the best lobster roll they’ve ever had - and they’ve been to Maine. Just look at how thick and fresh these pieces of lobster are!

But, if we had to recommend at least one dish to kick off your seafood flavor journey, you’ll have to make sure it’s the bowl of garlic clams. Add a little bit of jalapeño to the mix to spice things up.
